If you are a movie lover, then you probably own a huge collection of DVDs or Blu-Ray discs. The problem is organizing such a large collection of movies and keeping track of them, to be able to easily find a certain movie without verifying every disc in the stack. The answer is DVD Profiler, a software that can help you organize all your discs quickly and easily.

DVD Profiler is very simple to install and completes this task in a short time. It can be run on every version of Microsoft Windows and doesn't require a more than average computer to run. Also, the size of the program shouldn't pose problems to most users, as it takes up only 20 MB of hard disk space.

DVD Profiler opens with a blue interface that unfortunately gives you the impression that you’re going to work on something with a steep learning curve. The interface seems difficult to understand by a beginner, as it doesn't include icons for the different tabs and panels. Also, the icons representing the main functions of the program are a bit small.

Cataloging is a simple task. When DVD Profiler is launched, it offers the user some options, like adding DVDs to the collection, restoring a backup file or going to the main menu. First time users should select the last option. The process of adding DVDs to the collection can start by clicking the Add to Collection option from the menu or using the icon for this.

Adding a DVD to the collection requires downloading an online profile list. The list includes ten parts and has a total size of 10.36MB. Once the list is downloading, the cataloging process can begin. DVDs can be added to the collection in numerous ways, for example by entering the UPC code found on the back of the DVD case, by manually searching the name of the title in the downloaded database or by inserting the disc in the drive, for automatically finding the UPC code. After completing this step, you can personalize your DVD collection by adding details like purchase price, date and collection number, among others.

DVD Profiler includes the Profile Links feature, which displays links to trailers, clips and reviews relating to the movie you have entered into your collection. Also, there is the possibility to configure the parental control, in which you can set a password for certain profiles that contain material unsuitable for minors, so no children will access them.

The DVD collection can be saved and printed as a list or as a set of images, representing the DVD covers. The software includes various options for modifying the functional part and also the look and feel. This way, users can change the colors of the interface or modify the path to certain elements of the collection.

Pros

It includes a lot of option for customizing the user's DVD collection. Also, it enables easy adding of DVDs to the collection, using the database downloaded from the Internet. Besides that, the parental control restricts children from accessing unsuitable material.

Cons

The large number of options could be confusing for a beginner who isn't experienced with DVD cataloging software. DVD Profiler is a great program for organizing a personal movie collection, allowing the user to quickly and easily find a desired title.
